This Cookie Policy explains how the FriendMapp website (friendmapp.app) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies. For information about how the FriendMapp mobile application handles data, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Mobile Application

FriendMapp is a native mobile application and does not use browser cookies. The App uses the following tracking-related technologies:

  • PostHog SDK: Collects anonymous usage events for product improvement. Does not use cookies. Uses an anonymous, randomly generated device identifier that is reset when you opt out or uninstall the App. IP address collection is explicitly disabled (ip: false). Autocapture and automatic screen capture are disabled. Analytics tracking is opt-in -- a consent prompt is shown after onboarding, before any events are tracked.
  • Sentry SDK: Collects crash reports for bug fixing. Does not use cookies or persistent identifiers beyond the session. All PII is scrubbed before transmission.
  • Branch.io SDK: Uses device-level attribution identifiers for referral link tracking. On iOS 14.5+, Branch.io will not access the IDFA unless you grant permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt. You may decline with no impact on App functionality.
  • Expo Push Notification token: A device-specific token used solely for delivering push notifications. It is not used for tracking or advertising.

Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the website to function properly. They include cookies for basic site functionality such as remembering your cookie consent preference. These cannot be disabled as the website would not function correctly without them.

Analytics Cookies

We may use PostHog for privacy-friendly website analytics to understand how visitors interact with our site. PostHog is configured with IP anonymisation enabled. These cookies are only set if you accept analytics cookies via the cookie consent banner. No personally identifiable information is collected by analytics cookies. Analytics data is used solely for improving the website experience.

We do not allow third-party advertising cookies on the FriendMapp website. The only third-party cookies that may be present are from PostHog (analytics), and only if you have accepted analytics cookies. We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking.

Data Retention

  • Cookie consent preference: Stored in your browser's local storage indefinitely (until cleared).
  • Analytics data (PostHog): Retained for 12 months from the date of the event.
